What are your primary goals? (create privacy, replace a patio, increase sunlight, increase seasonal color/ interest, etc.) Do you have specific tasks in mind or simply looking to improve curb appeal?

Are there any existing features you would like to incorporate into the new design? You may want to highlight a garden structure, an old patio, or re-use existing plant material.

Are there any problem areas on your property (poor drainage, privacy issues, overgrown trees, uneven pavement, etc.) that need to be addressed?

Are there any known obstacles (utility lines, easements, etc.) or specific challenges (destructive pets, deer or rabbit browsing)?

Do you have a budget for your project? If you're not sure, we can provide you with a realistic budget range once we understand your needs and goals.

Do you have a specific date the project needs to be completed by?

Do you anticipate completing your landscape project at once or in phases?

Will you be installing the landscape by yourself, need some assistance, or looking to have professionals complete your project?

Do you have ample time to spend maintaining your landscape or would you prefer to have a landscape as low maintenance as possible? Will you need professionals to help maintain your landscape?

What design style do you tend to prefer? Formal (clean, symmetrical, rectilinear forms) or informal (curvilinear, flowing, natural forms)? Or perhaps a blend of the two?

Plantings & Lawn

Do you have any favorite plants (trees, shrubs, etc.) you would like us to incorporate? Any favorite colors?

Likewise, are there any plants or colors you would prefer to avoid?

Would you prefer more lush plantings or more spaced out / minimal gardens?

How important is lawn space? Are you looking for alternatives to a mowed lawn?

Hardscapes

What types of new hardscape features are you wanting to incorporate into your new landscape? Such features may include patios, walkways, retaining walls, seat walls, fire pits and terraces.

Do you have a preference for the materials used for each feature (pre-cast concrete products vs. natural stone)?

If you plan on entertaining, how many guests would you like to be able to accommodate? This will help, for example, the size of a back yard patio you will need.

Are you interested in sustainable landscaping such as rain harvesting (i.e. rain garden, rain barrel or dry creek bed), edible gardens, attracting wildlife / pollinators or composting?

Additional Information

While we often work with subcontractors or refer you to other companies for features we don't specialize in, we can still incorporate them into your landscape design. Below are some of the common requests. Which of the following are you interested in including in your project?
