A Note from Tim About How It All Started…
Since childhood, I’ve loved exploring nature. I would dig up small plants from my grandparents’ woods, drive them home and transplant them to my own yard. Could they survive such a move? If so, would they continue to grow in their new environment? Would they need my help? Would my parents’ patience endure as I endlessly stuffed random plants into their car?
This was my passion, and at the age of 13, I earned enough money mowing lawns to purchase a pond liner. I chose the perfect spot in our back yard, dug the hole, and set the liner in place. I’d venture into the woods and come back with all kinds of adornment for my new pond: various pieces of stones and rock, moss covered sticks and logs, floating water plants, even little creatures! I used nature as my guide as I “redecorated” our yard for hours on end.
As a kid, I knew that an architect designed buildings. But I wanted to know who got to design the outdoor spaces around them. Then I discovered my calling: Landscape Architecture.
Landscape Architecture is the overlap between the art and science of the natural environment that I had been exploring. In 2003, I completed my degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of Illinois and never looked back. Since then, I’ve spent my career refining my craft and helping bring beauty and purpose to my clients’ unique outdoor spaces.
Sprout Landscape & Garden is the culmination of my youthful experiments, my higher education, and my years of professional experience. I look forward to working with you and your landscape!
